So what exactly is eczema you ask?
Eczema is simply a skin condition caused by inflammation of the skin. It is often hereditary.
I experienced eczema with AJay (my first born) and I must admit,it was a monster until my husband and I learned how to get it under control.
Initially it started out as regular dry spots when he was about four months old. We didn't think anything of it and we continued to wash him in Johnson's and Johnson's and we also used baby lotion afterwards. Little did we know that at 6 months his eczema would spread and a become big rash- like area in his "hot spots".
These "hot spot" areas would bother him. I could tell because he would scratch them often. After trying a boatload of over the counter lotions and potions, I decided to take him to his pediatrician. She first prescribed him a mild steroid ointment called Triamcinolone Cream. This did not work at all. I decided to take him back to his pediatrician and she then prescribed him a cream called Elidel (Pimecrolimus). This cream cleared his eczema up in a few days and I still use it on him today.
My husband and I also came up with a regimen that we use everyday on AJay. After his baths at night and wash-ups in the morning we apply his Elidel cream to his hot spots, (under his knees, inside of his elbows, and sometimes his face.) then we oil him down with either olive oil or skin so soft from Avon. This regimen is what we do every day to ensure that he is not bothered by his eczema and to make sure that his skin is nice and smooth.
Hopefully Acee doesn't have it, but if so i am ready !!!
